Hospital Staff Shortages And Rising Cases In Major States

Since the outbreak of the omicron variant in the country, the cases are rising and the average cases have doubled every week. The daily number of omicron variant cases in the US has surpassed more than 1.5 million and it seems like the nation is on the road to breaking its own record every day.

Hospital Staff Shortages And Rising Cases In Major States

The major states like California, Florida, Ohio, New Texas, and some others have already raised the issues of shortage of healthcare staff in the geographical area. This has been creating major issues in providing effective and required treatment to the infected patients.

Keeping such issues in consideration, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention earlier this month reduced the isolation period for the medical employees in the country. The quarantine time period has been reduced to 5 days against the previous 10 days and the infected patient has to produce a negative certificate.

Also this week the Joe Biden Administration allowed the healthcare staff with asymptomatic to continue working. But the nursing groups in the US are against this decision of the CDC and have raised the issue that it will lead to more infections and might become more deadly for the infected person if not isolated and treated properly.

Now according to the data available, it has been recorded that more than 152,500 patients are occupying beds in the hospitals and the hospitalization rate is gradually increasing with the rise in the daily cases. On Wednesday the Hospital admissions also surpassed the previous winter’s rate and this time the rate will further rise.

The available data also stated that hospitalization admission is increasing around 20 percent in the United States and it must be noted that around one-fourth of the US hospitals have already reported the acute shortage of medical supplies and healthcare officials.

Last week California crossed the 5 million total cases in the State and only Florida and New Texas were behind California. Now it has been reported that USA states with a major population like New York,  California, Ohio, Michigan, New Mexico, and Rhode Island have been demanding the Federal government to consider the shortage of frontline workers and medical supplies.

The cases in the states are on the rise and it has been reported that the White House administration has issued the notice to increase the deployment of army and police staff in different hospitals.

As per the data available, more than 14,000 military personnel have been deployed in the country to fulfill the current demand for medical staff and help the frontline workers with basic medical help.

Also, to curb the increasing cases and increase the testing facility in the country, additional 500 million testing kits are being added to the list of previously promised rapid testing kits for the entire population.
