Earlier the state of New York had opened 13 additional testing facilities to improve the testing rates so that more people can be tested and it will help in reducing cases and it really worked in favor of the government and citizens. Gov. Hochul stated that we are more focused on increasing the testing locations as directed by the White House administration. We have to reach out to every citizen and make it possible for them to get tested.

Last week Governor Kathy Hochul had announced 10 new Covid-19 test centers based out of SUNY and community college campus.  The encouraging response to these test centers has now prompted the NY government to open additional testing centers. This week the NY government has now announced opening additional 9 sites on the SUNY and Community College Campuses throughout the state.

The Governor said “We are planning to utilize all the State Resources to keep people of New York safe and secure against the omicron variant of covid 19. These SUNY sites shall be a part of the Winter Surge Plan to make Covid-19 tests available throughout the state and it will offer extra support to the Central government in achieving the target to enhance the testing and vaccination rate in the United States.

While announcing the additional testing facilities, the Governor said “The additional test facilities shall help make Covid-19 tests more widely available for New Yorkers and reach out to every location where getting tested is very tough. The rapid home-based testing kits are not completely safe and sometimes they don’t even detect the symptoms. But the PCR test is very effective and offers accurate results.

We are making use of every possible resource and method to save the lives of our citizens and equipping the people of New York with better access to testing shall ensure that those who are infected with Covid-19 will isolate themselves and ultimately curb the spread of the virus in the state and this worked well and the state was able to reduce the number of cases and positivity rate.

Urging New Yorkers to take precautions Governor Hochul said “Stay at home if not well and get tested. Wear the mask, wash hands, get vaccines, and the booster dose. “
