Kanye West Speaks Of Why He Threw The Mic At  His “Donda 2” Event In Miami

Kanye West took his latest album ‘Donda 2’ to a star night in Miami last week. Kanye performed some of his old and new tracks. But the incident that caught the headlines followed after.

It was in the middle of the event when Ye was performing his song ‘Jail’ with artists DaBaby and Marilyn Manson. Ye threw the mic in frustration. Then fans gathered were quick to blame the sound quality. This was not the case as Kanye explains what happened in the event.

He revealed “Yeah, it wasn’t really about the sound, it was the fact that one thing I was told was that I had to write ‘performance’ on the piece,” he said in an interview.

“But what I was giving you guys was performance art. I did these listening sessions when I dropped my album where I put a mask on and I gave you this listening session and it’s an installation. And they basically forced me to mix Taco Bell and KFC. They basically forced me to mix tequila with cognac,” Yeezy added.

At the event, he spoke of his focus on Stem Player and also the choice to tweet about the contract excerpts. He said he always fought for individuality and the event made him frustrated by also adding “So right when I did the song and I saw myself grabbing this mic and it wasn’t my original idea, I was like, ‘I’m gonna throw this mic. Why am I doing this?’ I’m in control of me.

He had the audacity to sell out 50,000 seats of a stadium in 5 days, and then to be told by a promoter, ‘Still grab that mic, boy.’ I ain’t grabbing the mic if I don’t have to grab the mic,” the rapper added.
