Coldplay, Billie Eilish, Charlie Puth, And Others Back With The Climate Change And Poverty Petition

Global Citizen published the letter today (May 22) in New York City at its inaugural “thought leadership conference,” Global Citizen NOW. The letter is part of their campaign for the year called “End Extreme Poverty NOW – Our Future can’t wait.”

5 Seconds of Summer Alessia Cara, Billy Porter, Chloe x Halle, Cyndi Lauper, Duran Duran, Femi Kuti, Hugh Jackman, Mneskin, and Ricky Martin are among those who have signed the petition. The letter they wrote, along with hundreds of others, called on billionaires and business titans, rich nation heads (such as those from G20 and the G7 as well as the G20) as well as others who have a lot of influence to “stand up by fully committing the required money to solve the issues we face.”

“We must enhance opportunities for women throughout the world, remove institutional hurdles that keep people poor, and avoid a climate catastrophe,” the letter states. We can only solve these problems when we remove the obstacles which have hindered us from eradicating extreme poverty. We must also commit to spending levels that permit longer-term growth rather than short-term.

Musicians Mentioned That Covid 19 Extremely Caused The Poverty

AS PER THE REPORT, the COVID-19 outbreak has caused extreme poverty to increase. As per Global Citizen, more than 100 million people have been pushed to live in poverty since the outbreak, which has erased six years of progress toward decreasing the global poverty rate. Based on UN Food Agency estimates (for AlJazeera), 45 million people could be hungry by 2022 if the authorities take swift action.

In this open letter, “the poorest people on our planet continue to suffer.” “They don’t have food, medical care, or education.” They’re facing the impacts of climate change that include a perpetual drought in some areas and the rising levels of the sea in some. They cannot feed their families on the table, access vital health and medical treatment, or gain equity, thus giving a better life to their children.

Many of the musicians who are part of the new project have developed relationships in conjunction with Global Citizen. They have for a long time been prominent in the entertainment and music industries. For instance, Eilish was on stage with Radiohead, The Weekend, and other artists in April as part of an online demonstration to urge institutions and governments to support humanitarian efforts in Ukraine and other countries.

Musicians To Support Global Citizen

Meskin was on stage during his performance on the Global Citizen Live broadcast in Paris in September of last year, Coldplay, Eilish, and Finneas all performed with each other at the same time in New York, and Duran Duran was the main act in London. Coldplay is a favorite and is a frequent patron of Global Citizen, which has already launched projects to help the homeless in 2015, 2017, and 2018.

In a TikTok video uploaded in January 2022, The “Attention” crooner appeared to criticize singers like the “Bad Guy” vocalist after she spoke about his name in an interview month prior. On a visit in December 2021 to the Sirius XM channel “The Howard Stern Show,” Billie remembers an evening meal at Elton’s home. Billie informed viewers that she had given an assortment of chocolates as a token of appreciation to the musician for her staying at his house.
