Taraji P. Henson and Janelle Monae were just a few of the big performers who took to the stage at the BET Awards to denounce the Supreme Court’s recent decision to strip women of the constitutional right to abortion.

Henson was the show’s emcee on Sunday. He delivered a positive message about Black greatness before diving into the Supreme Court’s decision to reverse the historic Roe v. Wade decision. The event began with Lizzo playing a solo flute in a sparkling gold gown. After that, the actress took to the stage to sing her hit song “About Damn Time.”
It’s time to acknowledge that guns have more rights and privileges than women. Janelle Monae raised her middle to the Supreme Court before introducing the candidates. Standing ovations were given to her address at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.
The singer praised the LGBTQ+ community by stating, “These artists are producing artwork on our terms, declaring our truths, and expressing ourselves freely in a world which seeks to control our bodies, our decisions, and our bodies.” “(Expressly) you, Supreme Court. We should rejoice right now, I am sure. We certainly deserve to be happy, and now is the right time to do it by fighting for our rights and facts. Monae then announced Sullivan as the category winner. He appealed to men to support women.
We need you. We need you to be strong, to stand for us, and to stand with us. You should stand if you have ever seen a woman make one of the most difficult decisions in her life, ending a pregnancy. This isn’t just a problem for women. This is a problem that affects everyone.
