Bret Michaels was allegedly hospitalized in Nashville Thursday evening – just moments before he was supposed to take the stage and perform with his band, Poison.

Rock icon, 59, is presently being treated at a nearby hospital following an apparent response to medicine he was taking for his diabetes, which provoked the reaction.

Michaels’ colleagues reportedly informed concertgoers of the issue before the event, saying that they couldn’t continue without him.

“Came all the way from KC to witness poison. I’m very disappointed,” one fan wrote on Twitter. Bret Michaels was taken to a hospital, where he is now being treated. Nashville is free of poison.”Until further notice, it is not known if Michaels or his band will play at the next performances in Florida and Mississippi.

During kidney surgery in 2014, he was admitted to the hospital six times in two weeks.

Despite doctors’ orders, Michaels returned to playing nearly immediately after having two stents placed in his body, according to his longtime guitarist and friend, Pete Evick.

According to Evick, “I don’t know how much blood flowed from his act, but it was horrible on his bus after the show.”

Michaels underwent an emergency appendectomy in 2010 because of his Type 1 diabetes. His brain stem hemorrhage occurred soon afterward.
