Scottish middle and long distance runner Eilish McColgan. In Birmingham, she finished first in the 10,000 meters at the last Commonwealth Games in 30:48.60.
Eilish was born on November 25, 1990 in Dundee, Scotland. She holds the British records for the 5000m, 5km and half marathon in addition to the 10km road race record for Europe.
Likewise, the Scottish runner, who won bronze in the 3,000 meters indoors in 2017 and silver in the 5,000 meters in 2018, has the fastest 10-mile time in Europe.
She was the only competitor to complete the race in less than ten minutes and the only British competitor to achieve ‘A’ rating. Despite earning a spot at the Olympics, McColgan opted out of the 2012 European Athletics Championships in Helsinki, Finland.

Eilish’s mother, Liz McColgan, was a former mid- and long-distance track and road runner for Great Britain. At the 1991 World Championships she won gold in the 10,000 meters, while at the 1988 Olympics she won silver.
Along the same lines, Peter McColgan, Eilish’s father, is a former obstacle hunter from Northern Ireland. As well as holding the marks in the two- and three-kilometre outdoor hurdle races, McColgan also holds the 3,000-metre indoor record for Northern Ireland at 7:54.48. Strabane, a town in County Tyrone, is McColgan’s birthplace. He attended Omagh CBS for his studies.
It was recently shared on Instagram with a message that read, “Great to have my mom back on the clock today!” This suggested that Eilish’s parents had the most impact on her.

I had the freedom to make my own decisions because I grew up with my mother, she continued. She never made me play sports against my will. I never noticed his rewards. I was never forced to watch his races or anything like that. I voluntarily made the decision to practice this sport, which I think explains why I am so passionate about it.
