After colliding in a tunnel in Norway, James May is now in hospital.
What led to James May’s hospitalization?
May’s car collided with a wall while he and Jeremy Clarkson were filming a drag race for the Grand Tour, breaking one of his ribs. At a Norwegian naval facility, May and Clarkson had to maneuver their rally cars through a tunnel and up a rock wall in order to complete the challenge.
Drivers had less than five seconds to react if they didn’t have enough space since the tunnel light only came on when the cars were moving. The moment May seemed to realize this, he applied the brakes and crashed into a wall.
May was able to enter the hospital with the help of paramedics who arrived quickly, and the show was filmed without him.
According to a person who spoke to The Sun
He initially had a truly unsettling appearance. When Jeremy and Richard began to worry about their partner, paramedics quickly rushed in. As is customary for a production of this scale, medical personnel are on standby in case, like here, things go wrong.
The insider also said that James had suffered a severe blow to the head and is currently suffering from neck and back pain.
The Grand Tour was created by May, Clarkson, Richard Hammond, James May and Andy Wilman. Since its debut on November 18, 2016, the show has received generally positive reviews from critics and viewers.
James May began his career as Deputy Editor of The Engineer and Autocar publications. Later he contributed to a number of magazines including The Daily Telegraph, Top Gear and Car Magazine. May was co-author of Oz and James’s Big Wine Adventure and the author of a book called May on Motors.
He is well known for his many television appearances and he has hosted programs such as Driven on Channel 4 and narrated Road Rage School on BBC One.
Inside Killer Sharks, a Sky documentary, aired in May. In James May’s 2008 BBC miniseries Big Ideas, he also traveled the world looking for applications for ideas that were mostly considered science fiction. In 2013, he then narrated To Space & Back, another documentary.
James, who founded YouTube channel Head Squeeze, launched JM’s hit Unemployment in 2015. The channel includes fictional builds of Airfix models combined with cooking movies of his kitchen. The channel’s most recent video was posted in February 2021.
In 2016 he founded DriveTribe, a social media platform for car enthusiasts. Additionally, he created a subsidiary called Foodtribe where he produced videos in a compact kitchen.
