CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin announced his decision to leave the network on Friday after 20 years on Twitter. He further stated that after his trip, he will leave CNN.
Toobin, who last appeared on August 4, said he enjoyed spending his last day with his friends Don Lemon, Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper. He also expressed his affection for all his former colleagues.

In a statement regarding Toobin’s departure, a CNN representative said:

The analyst began working as a law clerk for a federal judge after graduating. After that, he joined the legal team of independent attorney Lawrence Walsh as associate counsel for the Iran-Contra investigation and the criminal trial of Oliver North.
After that, Jeffrey Toobin worked as an assistant US attorney in the East Brooklyn borough of New York. He started working as a legal analyst in 1993, shortly after joining The New Yorker. In 1996 he also started working as an analyst for ABC TV.

Toobin’s departure comes after he gained notoriety after revealing himself to his colleagues at The New Yorker during a zoom video chat in October 2020. After a three-week investigation, he was ultimately fired from his position at the magazine.
The magazine’s parent company, Condé Nast, severed ties with Toobin, but CNN welcomed him back to the airwaves after an eight-month absence. In an interview with Alisyn Camerota, the legal expert acknowledged the incident and described himself as a “flawed human being who makes mistakes”.
In addition to calling his actions “very stupid and unacceptable,” Jeffrey Toobin expressed regret to his former colleagues at The New Yorker. He added:
“I apologize to everyone who participated in the Zoom call. They were stunned and horrified. They probably concluded that it was not meant for them. that, which I must have done.
However, Toobin insisted that at the time he thought he had turned off his video call and had no idea others might see it:
I wouldn’t say I’m defending myself because there’s nothing to defend, but I didn’t believe I was on the call. I didn’t believe anyone else could see me. I thought I disconnected the Zoom call.
The analyst added: I volunteer and go to the council in my free time.
“I’m trying to win back people’s trust once again.”
Even Toobin apologized to his wife, family, former New Yorker colleagues, CNN colleagues and friends:
“I apologize to my wife and family first and foremost, but I also apologize to the people on the Zoom call, to my former colleagues at The New Yorker, to my current colleagues, thankfully still, to CNN, and to them. people who read my work and thought I was a better guy than that.
