Director JA Bayona revealed that power rings The team considered making the TV series almost connected to the Peter Jackson trilogy films.
Prime Video power rings takes place hundreds of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. In his interview with SFX MagazineBayona said:
“We all love what Peter Jackson has done…and at the very beginning we thought about establishing some sort of bridge between the show and the movies. But then, as you realize the complexity of each world, you become invested in your own story. Then unconsciously you start creating something that has a life of its own.”
The Rings of Power and its connection to the LOTR
Recently, Peter Jackson mentioned that Amazon Studios had promised to send him the scripts for power rings, which in fact never happened. The director didn’t make a fuss about it and said he was very excited to watch the TV series. It turns out that Amazon Studios decided not to show Jackson the scripts for legal reasons. The show was supposed to be separate from the movies anyway.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is loosely based on JRR Tolkien’s epic fantasy world which will tell the story of the rise to power of the Dark Lord Sauron. The inspiration for the series comes from the vast and long history of Middle-earth. that of Peter Jackson The Lord of the Rings the trilogy films have grossed nearly $3 billion worldwide.
Prime Video power rings will take place during the Second Age of Middle-earth, a period of peace until Sauron rises to power and the Rings of Power are forged.
power rings is a five-season deal and is currently Amazon Studios’ most expensive project with a whopping $465 million budget allocated for its first season alone. The series is set to arrive on Prime Video this September 2.
