The murders of Kassandra Sweeney and her two sons on August 3 were allegedly committed by a minor, who was arrested and charged by Northfield police on August 11.
The child will be tried as a minor and faces three counts of first degree murder as well as one count of tampering with physical evidence.
Kassandra Sweeney, 25, and her two children Benjamin and Mason, who were 4 and 1, were killed in a triple homicide, according to the announcement Thursday by Attorney General John M. Formella, the Col. State Nathan Noyes and Northfield. Chief of Police John Raffaelly.
When officers arrived just after 11:30 a.m. last Wednesday in response to a 911 call for help, they discovered the three bodies inside their home.
The residence where Kassandra Sweeney and her two sons were killed on August 3 is marked with a bouquet. A minor has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and one count of tampering with physical evidence related to their deaths, the NH AG office reported today.
Juvenile Rules, which protect the identities of minors and prohibit the disclosure of any additional information in cases involving them, were cited as the reason no other information about the teenager has been made public.
It is unclear whether the Sweeney family knew the child or had other information that would have allowed them to identify them, such as their age.

An official involved in the case says prosecutors can request that the offender be tried as an adult in juvenile cases, and the court will then make the final decision. The official added that he is unable to predict whether this will happen in this case.
Sean Sweeney, husband of Kassandra Sweeney, is believed to have been involved in the murder.
Sean said in a Facebook post in response to rumors that he was sick of seeing his “identity dragged through the mud”.
