Knife murder in Fairfield, New Jersey involving Frank and Catherine Forte
At an apartment building in the Woodcrest Fairfield complex on Greenbrook Road in Fairfield, Frank Forte stabbed his wife Catherine Forte several times before committing suicide.
The Essex County District Attorney’s Office has opened an investigation into a murder-suicide that occurred early Friday, August 12, 2022, in a community of over 55s in Fairfield Township.
According to a law enforcement source, a husband allegedly stabbed his wife in an adult community before turning the knife on himself.
The event is said to have taken place in the Woodcrest of the adult residential neighborhood of Fairfield on Greenbrook Road, a 55+ neighborhood where older people predominate.

Frank Forte, 84, allegedly stabbed his wife Catherine Forte, 83, before turning the knife on himself.
It happened in one of the apartment buildings in the Woodcrest at Fairfield complex on Greenbrook Road in Fairfield, Connecticut.
A married couple in their 80s lost their lives in a suspected murder-suicide that allegedly took place Friday morning in an adult community in New Jersey.
A home health aide reportedly heard a noise in the kitchen, saw Frank Forte screaming, and then walked into Catherine Forte’s bedroom.
He’s trying to kill her, said Catherine Forte, running towards the neighbor.
Some residents say the situation was just plain weird and mention how unique the area is.
A live-in aide was also reportedly inside the house, but she managed to escape unharmed.

While Catherine Forte was discovered with stab wounds to the chest, Frank Forte self-inflicted stab wounds to the stomach.
Catherine and Frank’s murder-suicide is being investigated by the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.
Just before 7:30 a.m., someone in one of the units in the “Woodcrest at Fairfield complex” dialed 911 and informed the operator that a man was stabbing a woman with a knife.
Two elderly victims who had been stabbed were discovered by police upon arrival.
Frank and Catherine Forte were taken to hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. A knife was found there.

At the Woodcrest at Fairfield apartment complex on Greenbrook Road in Fairfield, Catherine Forte was stabbed by Frank Forte.
Both victims were pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The state’s regional medical examiner’s office will establish the official cause, according to Essex County Chief Assistant District Attorney Thomas Fennelly, despite two deaths being confirmed.
It is not known if Frank Forte’s dementia played a part in the alleged crime, although it is certain that he had it.
