The big battle between the two mighty MCU villains is something fans would love to see. Marvel showed us just how powerful Thanos is and what he can do with and without Infinity Stones.
But, as for Kang, we’ve just been given a picture of what he can do and what “The One Who Remains” was preventing. Good Kang explained what his other variants can do to this world if he doesn’t maintain balance in the sacred timeline.
This theory will explain how powerful Thanos is and what will happen when he faces Kang, the chaotic time traveler. Let’s see how they would come face to face!
Kang meets Thanos on Earth 616
In the quest to collect all six Infinity Stones, Ebony Maw told Thanos that someone in the universe was manipulating time and obstructing his quest to retrieve the Time Stone.
Whenever Thanos has attempted to defeat Doctor Strange or Strange Supremes in the past, Kang has stepped in and manipulated the future of the upcoming fight. Kang feared that Thanos would overpower him in time manipulation if he got his hands on the Time Stone.
So, Thanos was furious and decided to face Kang or one of his variants to clear all obstacles in this finger snapping mission.
Kang has defeated Thanos in his missions to every universe in the Multiverse. But, Thanos has already acquired four stones in the actual MCU timeline and is stronger than any Thanos variant that Kang has fought.
Thanos decided to go fight Doctor Strange and take the Time Stone himself. He expected Kang to show up because just like Kang can travel through different universes, Thanos can use his Space Stone to travel the universe and take the Time Stone with him through different worlds where Kang will have struggling to contain Thanos.
Thanos landed on Earth in the current MCU timeline and was merciless to Doctor Strange. He had no protection as Bruce Banner was in human form and Tony was not yet informed of Thanos.
Doctor Strange was not yet part of the Avengers, and Bruce had no contact with the other members of the team. Thanos became ruthless against Doctor Strange and threatened to kill the entire city if he didn’t give up the Time Stone.
Thanos told Doctor Strange, “I will perish this entire city and ensure that you cannot revive them with the use of the Time Stone. It’s because I will kill you too after I kill the city and remove the stone from your corpse.
Doctor Strange hands the Time Stone to Thanos, and that’s when Kang appears from a beam, right in front of Thanos.
The confrontation between Thanos and Kang
Thanos drops Doctor Strange to the ground and walks over to Kang.
He says, “So you must be Kang. People call you conqueror, but what have you conquered so far? You continue to hide in different timelines and expect the multiverse to fear you as a conqueror. You like to congratulate yourself, don’t you? Everyone who considers you a conqueror is probably one of your variants.
Kang replies, “Finally, you came out of your cocoon, desperate to fight and defeat me. I think that’s something that I managed to bring down the mighty Thanos on the battlefields, while what he always does is sit on a big chair and order his slaves to do the work for him.
This frustrates Thanos, and he immediately sends a beam of energy stone towards Kang, which he deflects, saying: “I know every move you’re about to make, because I’ve fought you many times in different universes and in the same instance.”
Thanos kept trying to grab his neck and beat him, but it was hard for him to beat someone who knew all of his next moves.
Kang says, “I fought all of your variants in all universes, and you all fight the same. I blocked you from getting the time stone in every universe, and failed you in your mission to do the snap with six stones You will never defeat me, and today this universe will also know Kang’s true power and kneel before me.
One thing Kang underestimated is that every Thanos variant he fought lacked the Time Stone. So he had no idea how Thanos would use the Time Stone he had just acquired from Doctor Strange.
Even though Kang can see into the future, he just underestimated Thanos of Earth 616 and thought the same of him as all of his other variants.
Thanos overpowers Kang
When Kang was confident enough to win, Thanos rewind time and changed his fighting patterns. Kang had no idea, as it is the rule of the Time Stone that only the viewer of this Stone will be able to remember, see, and change the future or the past.
He changed his fighting pattern and started punching Kang relentlessly. Kang was also a time traveler who realized that Thanos was using the Time Stone to turn back time and use it to his advantage. So whenever Kang realizes this, Thanos rewinds time again.
At one point. Thanos holds Kang by the neck and destroys his time-traveling watch to prevent him from deflecting his attacks. He crushes Kang’s neck and says: “I am inevitable. Let all your variants come to me at once, they will share the same fate as you.
Thanos is and always will be the strongest and smartest villain in the MCU.
