Everything We Know About House Of The Dragon

It’s been a little over a decade since Game of Thrones first premiered and about 2 years since its controversial final season. Now it’s time to change. The Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon has everyone holding their breath and waiting for its premiere. The prequel will be based on another novel written by none other than George RR Martin. The book is called Fire and Blood. It traces the history of the Targaryen dynasty. The idea for this series came many years ago in 2016 when Martin pitched the same to HBO. Now that it’s almost here, we’re going to tell you everything you need to know about it.

Where and when to watch it

It was announced on the 30e March 2022, that the first season of House of the Dragon will be released on the 21stst August. In the meantime, audiences have been blessed with trailers and teasers. In fact, HBO even released character wall art to introduce us to the main characters. House of the dragon will air exclusively on HBO and HBO Max.

The cast and the characters

Paddy Considine, who you may have seen in Peaky Blinders, was the first official cast member and will play King Viserys Targaryen. He is a kind and gentle man who did not want to let his family down and wanted to carry on the legacy. He was also chosen by the Lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen.

Olivia Cooke will try out for the role of Alicent Hightower. She is the daughter of Otto Hightower and the second wife of King Viserys.

Emma D’Arcy will play the King’s firstborn, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. Matt Smith will play Prince Daemon Targaryen, brother of King Viserys. Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King. Eve Best will play a dragon rider, Princess Rhaenys Velaryon. And many other interesting characters are waiting for you.

The plot of the show

The series takes place almost 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones. As its title suggests, it will focus on the Targaryen Civil War otherwise known as “The Dance of the Dragons”. During this turbulent time, families turned on each other, siblings pitted against siblings, and dragons tore dragons apart. Everyone who aimed for the Iron Throne would do anything to achieve it. This civil war was between the children of King Viserys I Targaryen – Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Prince Aegon II Targaryen – after his death. In fact, this is also the period when the dragons died out. It wasn’t until after 150 years that Daenerys finally hatched three. According to the book’s description, it begins with Aegon the Conqueror uniting six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros.

There’s one more thing the trailer gave us. Many majestic fire-breathing dragons fly freely in the vast skies above Westeros. If that doesn’t excite you then I don’t know what will. Plus, there will be expansive battle scenes that will be visually and stylistically brilliant, fingers crossed.

Reactions to the first episode

The first episode aired at the world premiere in Los Angeles. Viewers Said that the show has it all. It’s supposed to have tension, drama, action, and brilliant performances from the cast. Some even applauded the technical aspects such as costume, music, photography and special effects. Very soon, you will be able to tell for yourself if these reactions are legitimate.
