A theme park called Six Flags Great America is located near Gurnee, Illinois, which is part of the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

Many police officers were present after three people were allegedly shot dead in the parking lot of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.
The victims’ injuries are believed not to be life-threatening. The amusement park was closed because it closes at eight.
Laurie Walker and her daughter Grace were in the park when the incident happened, according to WGN News. Around 7:50 p.m., Walker said, she saw people running away in terror as she and her companions lined up for the “Ricochet” in the southwest corner of the park.
Unable to understand what was happening, Laurie, who witnessed the incident, said someone ordered everyone down and shouted that there was an active shooter.
In order to get “in sight” of her husband, Laurie and Grace scaled two fences. Laurie states that after hiding briefly, she was able to get out of the park.

Police are intensively combing the area around Six Flags Great America, according to authorities, who spoke to WGN News.
Gurnee Amusement Park social media users claimed it was closed just before its usual closing time of 8pm. A subsequent tweet included video of people quietly leaving the building as dozens of red and blue emergency car lights flashed in the parking lot.
Social media users shared a video of park visitors cowering and snuggling where they queued.
Six Flags was ready to close when filming took place. So far, no convictions related to the incident have been reported.
The police department has asked anyone with knowledge of the shooters to contact them as they are working hard to find them.
