The grieving family of a yellow cab driver who was discovered dead on Saturday August 13, after sustaining a fatal head injury, are begging anyone with information that could lead to an arrest to come forward.

The 52-year-old father of four argued with a group over their transport costs at the last taxi stop in Kutin Gyimah in Queens just before 6.30am, near Beach 54 Street and Arverne Boulevard , as seen in the analyzed security images. by investigators.

However, detectives are still looking for the five individuals who witnesses described leaving the taxi driver unconscious on the ground on Saturday morning.

Gyimah was filmed chasing the five passengers and grabbing one of them in an effort to stop the gang from getting away. The group however retaliated by hitting the driver; one of them hit him on the head, knocking him unconscious and knocking him to the ground.

Gyiah was discovered on the ground by emergency personnel, who took him to St. John’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Gyimah was only in the early hours of his working day when he was killed, according to Fernando Mateo, the head of the taxi union, who spoke at a press conference on Sunday morning August 14 .

The costs of the 52-year-old’s burial will be covered by the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers, which also announced a $15,000 award for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
