Colin Trevorrow Talks Possible Star Wars Return After Episode IX Exit

Colin Trevorrow, who was originally slated to direct star wars episode ix before being replaced by JJ Abrams, shared his thoughts on possibly returning to the franchise.

Details of Trevorrow’s plans for the conclusion of the Skywalker saga have emerged online since he was dropped from the project by Lucasfilm. His version of Episode IXentitled Duel of Fateswould have been radically different from that of Abrams The Rise of Skywalker.

Whereas star wars fans might never see Duel of Fates come to fruition, some may be wondering if there could be another place for Colin Trevorrow in the galaxy far, far away.

Unfortunately for fans who would have liked to see Colin Trevorrow’s take on the star wars universe, it looks like the director isn’t interested in returning to the franchise. However, Trevorrow says this reluctance is not the result of his Episode IX experience or a reflection of the franchise.

Speaking to ComicBook.com recently, the director was asked if he might consider returning to star wars to lead a new project. Trevorrow, who recently led the jurassic world series, said he was now more interested in working on original projects after several years working on recognized franchises.

Discussing his thoughts on a star wars back, Colin Trevorrow said:

“I don’t know. Not because of Star Wars, but because I spent 8 or 9 years creating new versions of the things we loved when we were kids. You know? Somewhere. There’s not only a lot of pressure on it, but it also casts a shadow over everything else you want to do… I did a little movie after Jurassic World, and I was the ‘Star Wars director ‘ when I did. And I think being able to break out of that a bit and not have everything I do in the context of our belief systems is interesting for me.

In his latest film, Jurassic World DominionColin Trevorrow reunited the main cast of 1993 jurassic parkmaking them allies with the new heroes of the jurassic world series. It feels like the film fulfilled his creative desire to explore nostalgic stories and he can steer clear of star wars in the foreseeable future.
