Is Ivan Nikolov’s tattoo really racist? Controversy and backlash from opponents with KSI boxing
Following photos of his allegedly racist tattoos being posted online, KSI rival Ivan Nikolov was accused of being a Hitler supporter and is now facing charges.
After receiving negative feedback for the opponent switch, KSI opted to play Nikolov the same night they played Swartz. Nikolov is a Bulgarian professional boxer who has lost three of his 21 matches. He also has a number of tattoos which some supporters mistakenly believe to be symbols used by Hitler’s supporters.

Is Ivan Nikolov’s tattoo racist?
In addition to the “white power” tattoo on his stomach, Nikolov’s body is covered with other insignia of discipleship. On his left forearm, Nikolov bears the words “Blood & Honour”, the nickname of a skinhead gang of Hitler Followers that was established in England in the 1980s.
Between the sentences is placed the symbol of the group, the triskele, a swastika with three points. An arm tattoo of a Celtic cross surrounded by a circle is another common white supremacist ink design.
On his right arm, Nikolov added the Schutzstaffel logo to his body art. The Schutzstaffel, a police and military force affiliated with the Hitler Followers Party, required its members to take an oath of loyalty to former German dictator Adolf Hitler.
Nikolov’s tattoos were also made public after he was captured shirtless at a football match in Bulgaria, apparently with other football hooligans. Nikolov’s disciple tattoos are shown in a photo of him with his arms by his side and more Hitler memorabilia visible on a wall behind him.
Controversy and backlash from opponents with KSI boxing
KSI had planned to face two opponents on the same card on August 27 in London: rapper Swarmz and fellow 43-year-old Bulgarian boxer with a 3-16-2 record, Ivan Nikolov (0 KOs). However, the latter opponent’s use of racial tattoos has recently drawn a lot of criticism.
Others also have recognizable disciple crests. Simply put, there is no room for debate on any of this.
Nikolov contributes nothing to the event, and neither does that. Any of the fellow boxers available in Europe could easily take their place if they were to continue using the ‘two fight’ marketing ploy.
