Agatha Coven of Chaos
Compared to Marvel’s other reveals at Comic-Con 2022, Agatha: House of Harkness received the most drastic change by introducing a new name. Agatha: Chaos Coven. This series is an offshoot of WandaVision, where Scarlet Witch battled Agatha Harkness. Not much is known about Agatha: Coven of Chaos at this point, but we may be able to glean some information on Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda potential appearance in the series.
Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, had one of the MCU’s saddest arcs since the beginning. When WandaVision and Doctor Strange visited the Multiverse of Madness, his sad path resulted in a turn to evil and his death at the hands of the Darkhold.
Despite this, Wanda/Scarlet Witch remains one of the most popular characters in the MCU, which suggests she will return to the big screen at some point. First, in the winter of 2023, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness will return in a spin-off titled Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which will air on the wildly popular WandaVision.
Many fans believe that Olsen’s return to the MCU will take place in this series as it continues to develop the story begun in WandaVision, in which the witch played an antagonistic role against Wanda.
The Scarlet Witch returns in Agatha: Coven of Chaos, but why?
A slight tease suggesting that their eventual reunion was left up to viewers after WandaVision’s final fight, just seconds after Wanda transformed into the Scarlet Witch. While turning Agatha into Westview’s curious neighbor, the evil witch assured her that she would need her in the future.
Agatha: “You have no idea what you triggered. You are going to need me.
Wanda: “If I do, I know where to find you.”
Harkness’ goal in Coven of Chaos is likely the same as when she and Maximoff met in WandaVision: to harness Maximoff’s Chaos abilities for his own ends. Maybe she’ll try to get what she wants by pretending to help Wanda, or maybe this time she’ll have good intentions.
Can we expect much from Elizabeth Olsen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
From what Doctor Strange could tell, Wanda had died in the collapse of Mount Wundagore, giving her life to wipe out all replicas of Darkhold across the Multiverse. So while Scarlet Witch may become the lead in a movie or series in the future, it will likely be preceded by a stunning reappearance in another project.
Wanda’s return could be courtesy of Agatha, as Agatha: Coven of Chaos is a WandaVision spin-off and clues have been dropped about their magical reunion. But if not, her unique otherworldly experience means she’ll return before the Multiverse Saga ends to help defeat Kang in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars.
