Prey was released August 5 on Hulu, and the majority of reviews from critics (and fans) were nothing but praise! Prey is arguably the best sequel since the 1987 release of the first Predator movie starring Austrian superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger.

This new installment in the franchise ticks all the boxes for casual fans and hardcore fans of the Yautja species. Prey brought a sigh of relief and hope to fans everywhere that maybe the Predator franchise can continue to thrive. As a fan, I’m on board to see more, excited to see what else Dan Trachtenberg or other directors bring to the table that’s true to Yautja lore, but a new take. I know many will agree with my statement. Here are some of my ideas that can be explored in future films after Prey.
Yautja Premier
Idea: Audiences have yet to be graced with a full Yautja film. The entire film is in their language and takes place on their homeworld where we follow a civil war between two clans. There will be zero humans. This movie is long overdue, imagine the different classes of warriors and see these monster hunters fight to the death. It would make a great movie, it would also allow audiences to take a break from the same plot where the Predator finds its prey but ends up killing it in the end. The fans need something new, and I don’t think the studio is comfortable right now winning it over in the next movie.
Story: There are daily massacres on Yautja Prime, there seems to be no end to the madness. A growing clan of bad blood is wreaking havoc. They are slaughtering the innocent Yautja and will not stop until all clans relent. It’s up to two highly respected and seasoned clans to join forces in order to put an end to this bad blood clan terrorizing Yautja Prime.
feudal japan
Idea: Feudal Japan seems like a no-brainer, am I wrong? Beautiful shots of the rural side of Japan, battle scenes of badass samurai, ninjas and a Predator who has a sword like Feral Predator in Prey. Maybe the sword looks like their own version of the katana. Unlike Commanche in Prey, samurai will have the upper hand in advanced weaponry as they used firearms at this time in history. They weren’t the most accurate weapons at the time, but you have to admit, seeing a line of samurai firing their weapons at a predator before charging in with their swords and spears would be so cool!
Story: Perhaps a story about an older ronin samurai who is past his prime with a troubled past. He is brought news of a lord who desperately needs his services. A “demon” kidnaps his men one by one, he thinks it could be a bad omen of his past and on top of that he is stressed about a possible assassination on his life. Not only that, this very lord is the former master of older ronin. In the end, ronin defeats the Yautja but he also dies succumbing to his wounds but finally feeling at peace for having his honor restored. Hiroyuki Sanada will play the sage ronin who faces his toughest challenge yet.
vikings
Idea: Vikings, mead, berserker, Norse songs and blood-soaked snow.
Story: This film is set in 1021 AD following a fictional Viking king by the name of Gorm Thorgard in Norway. He quickly loses control of the kingdom as his own brother plots to overthrow him and declare civil war. While all of this is happening, two elite predators without plasma launchers are let loose in the middle of all this chaos. In this movie, he will feature two new Predators who are both women named Huginn and Muninn who have never been portrayed in the Predator movies.
Vietnam War
Idea: Vietnam offers fans a hint of nostalgia seeing this film set in a different jungle environment than the first film, but with higher stakes. As would take place during the war, there are many traps set by humans and the predator. This has all the makings of a mysterious, suspenseful monster movie.
Story: The story is about a team of Australian SASRs aka “Ghosts of the Jungle” by the Viet Cong who are sent to conduct a reconnaissance mission over enemy mortar positions. Eliminate all threats if the opportunity arises. Come in, come out. The mission heads south when they arrive at their destination, greeted by the aroma of rotting flesh that has cooked in the jungle heat for hours, skinned Viet Cong everywhere, with no trace of who or what. is the culprit. They will soon discover that they are not the only ghosts in the jungle.
The Future (2122-2130)
Idea: I love seeing the Predator in an urban setting, Predator 2 will always have a special place in my heart but there is a masterpiece of a movie hidden within this sequel. Hunt an elite predator in a futuristic city on Earth or another planet inhabited by humans.
Story: This film may follow the same story as the 2005 video game Predator: Concrete Jungle. When a Yautja nicknamed Scarface has a failed hunt on Earth, he is exiled to a hostile planet for a hundred years, and when he is picked up by his clan, he must restore his honor by returning to the same city to complete his hunt and recover the missing Yautja tech that was left behind before being exiled. Blade Runner meets Predator is the sensation of this film.
