She-Hulk crash scene
We’ve all watched She-Hulk Episode 1 and already felt the difference between the comic book storyline and the MCU storyline. We know that how Jennifer Walters became the Hulk had a very different reason than what we saw in the first episode.
The scene of the accident
In the comics, Jennifer Walters is the one who is seriously injured in the accident and is admitted to the hospital. She was on the verge of death when Bruce Banner had to give her blood to save her life.
Bruce Banner made his sister a new version of the Hulk, just to save her life. And it made the audience emotional and more connected to the story.
In She-Hulk, which aired yesterday, we saw Bruce Banner scream in pain and bleed as he had the device to keep him in his human form even when he was distressed and scared in the crash.
Consequently, this resulted in her injury and the blood droplets mixed with Jen’s open wounds. And that’s how she became the Hulk.
It was so quick and random that people didn’t have much time to process. First, they showed the accident scene as a flashback narration, which is not what fans expect from Marvel.
Yes, we agree that Marvel can’t continue to elaborate on comic book-accurate storylines because that will consume the main story’s time. But that’s the whole point of airing a series of episodes instead of a movie, isn’t it? You have to give the characters time and introduce them well into the stories.
Jennifer transforms into She-Hulk
Comic had a completely different angle on how Bruce trains Jennifer and how his experience helped his sister control rage and power. But, in the movie, all we saw was Hulk getting humiliated by his sister, because she could easily control his powers, with/without his brother’s help.
Fans are waiting to see what other twists Marvel will present to the remaining eight episodes of She-Hulk. The best suggestion is to avoid comparing the storyline to the comics and just enjoy it with a fresh approach.
