The announcement for the Daredevil series was made public during Comic-Con, which is slated for release in the spring of 2024 with Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio reprising their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively. Not much has been revealed about other cast details as such.

After seeing Daredevil and Kingpin appear in many upcoming projects, even Echoit’s safe to assume we’ll be bringing a full-time Hell’s Kitchen protector back into action.

What is the story of Born Again in the comics

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock

This arc is one, which shows off Kingpin’s Monstrosity as Daredevil’s nemesis and what he’s capable of. This comic storyline specifically deals with Kingpin wreaking havoc on Matt Murdock and smashing everything he’s built, making Daredevil deranged, trying to escape the clutches of Kingpin’s men.

The story begins with Karen Page selling Matt Murdock as Daredevil for a heroin fix, after her downward spiral in her acting career, and this information is passed on to the Kingpin.

This marks the beginning of Kingpin’s rampage on Matt Murdock, from his bank accounts to his job, Kingpin begins to smash everything to drive Matt down the path of madness. Kingpin also sends several of his underlings to track Matt’s every move, Matt tries for revenge, calls for a confrontation with Kingpin in which he brutally loses and is left to die in a taxi which is pushed into the East River.

Murdock breaks free and is treated by his mother in a Catholic church, which has not appeared in his life for years. Kingpin even gets his hands on the American super soldier Nuke, to kill Murdock. Nuke attempts to destroy Hell’s Kitchen to bring Murdock out of hiding, killing many civilians in the act. Daredevil tries to apprehend Nuke, then the Avengers take him into custody.

It all falls on Kingpin, after Nuke’s attempt fails and Kingpin has him killed by the military, in the process Captain America catches one of the hitmen sent to assassinate Nuke and discovers that Kingpin is behind it all this chaos. Kingpin loses his public image and the trust of his subordinates for his actions.

How does this story play out in the series?

Kingpin in Hawkeye

In Season 3, we already saw Kingpin find out Daredevil’s identity but with a little twist, it was because of Matt’s mistake that Kingpin found out. Matt’s fight in the prison leads Kingpin to assume that Matt might be Daredevil and begins to ruin Matt’s life.

Kingpin sends Bullseye, to track and kill Matt, but slows everything begins to fall apart for Kingpin after Bullseye learns the methods Kingpin used to recruit him.

Daredevil Season 3, loosely adapts this arc with some references also integrated into some episodes. The “Born Again” can be fully fledged in the next episode. There’s also a chance to adapt the sequel-type arc to this story, in which Daredevil gives Kingpin a taste of his own medicine, ultimately defeating him.

Possible changes in the comic and the series

Since Kingpin has already discovered Daredevil’s identity, we can see the series starting from Matt’s downfall with the return of the titular character Bullseye, leading to a Triple War between Daredevil, Kingpin, and Bullseye.

The length of this episode also means there’s more room for other heroes to appear and assist Matt, such as The Avengers or Punisheror even Jessica Jones, there have been rumors of the Punisher and Jessica Jones reprising their roles in the MCU.
This also establishes the likelihood of marking the completion of the Kingpin arc and moving on to the next antagonist, Bullseye who was also another major villain for Daredevil.

Too bad we still have to wait until spring 2024 to see this epic story come to life as an adaptation and watch our most beloved character on the journey of donning his classic Daredevil garb. We can only hope that She-Hulk and Echo are working on putting together a few pieces to increase our excitement for this chapter.
