Why CTV Thought Lisa Laflamme Grey Hair Was Inappropriate? We Have An Opinion

According to viewers, veteran reporter Lisa LaFlamme’s tenure at CTV came to an abrupt end on Monday when the network announced her retirement and replacement.

LaFlamme overcame the odds as the silver-haired anchor of the nation’s most-watched national newscast.

Bell Media executives issued a press release Monday without official approval, saying LaFlamme had been fired from CTV National News in a decision based on “changing audience habits.”

Omar Sachedina, CTV News’ national affairs correspondent, was recently named as his replacement and will take up his post on September 5. CTV did not say how it plans to change the broadcast with his arrival.

Reps only said they wished Lisa the best as she embarks on a new chapter and declined to comment.

LaFlamme’s claim that she was “blindsided” by the company’s decision to terminate her contract has only gained more attention due to the lack of strategic clarity. It has also raised concerns about whether she is just one of countless women who have faced ageism and sexism in television journalism.

Former University of Toronto journalism program director Jeffrey Dvorkin remarked that “it was a quick hit – and it was a hit.”

She claimed that although she was informed of their plans on June 29, they were kept secret while they handled the logistics of her departure.

People assume that she had to go through all of this because of her change in hair color.
