There was a contest in the first episode of House of Dragon where princes from different houses fought to win the contest and gain reputation among all of Westeros.
In this context, we have all been so convinced by the evil vision of Daemon Targaryen, the commander of the city guard, that he will slaughter everyone and earn his way to “favor”. But, his biggest competitor in this competition was Ser Criston Cole.
Who is Ser Criston Cole?
Ser Criston Cole was born and was the son of the Lord’s Steward of Blackheaven. From the first episode, we saw what a fierce knight he is of Dornish descent.
He has a noble demeanor and his combat prowess is impeccable. Prince Daemon is one of the most powerful knights in Westeros. But, Ser Criston Cole is stronger even in close combat than Prince Daemon.
Later in the show, he will be the one to become the Lord Commander of the Kingsguard for Viserys.
In the book, Criston Cole becomes the Hand of the King for Aegon II, during some form of warfare. In the television series House of Dragon, the character of Criston Cole is interpreted by Fabien Frankel.
The Defeat of Prince Daemon Targaryen
After the knights fight, Prince Daemon fell to the ground and stood up to challenge Criston Cole to a hand-to-hand fight. But, in the end, Prince Daemon failed, and Ser Criston Cole won the battle and gave Daemon a chance for giving in, as he held the weapon right above his face.
We have to wait and see how this character will be brought to the scene in the future. From the first episode, Rhaenyra Targaryen is now announced as the heir to the Iron Throne after Viserys. The Seven Kingdoms pledged their loyalty to the new heir and swore an oath to protect her and the kingdom.
