New Ender Trilogy ‘Halloween Ends’ Release Poster and Update

The next Halloween ends had a new poster released today, along with some surprising news regarding its release. With increased marketing on the October 14 release, there’s a new poster, a special Jamie Lee Curtis video, and a surprising Peacock release date for the film.

A pointless trilogy

Halloween ends
Michael Myers in Halloween (2018)

In 2018, the first of three was released, simply called Halloween. Following the events of the 1978 film of the same name, it follows a weary and elderly Laurie Strode, played by Jamie Lee Curtis, as she deals with her demons from the events all those years ago. Thankfully, ignoring all of the franchise movies released since the original, it continued on with the main story without added distractions, odd character choices, or the actual face of Michael, a controversial choice from Rob Zombie reboots in the 2000s.

While it didn’t break new ground in the horror franchise, it was fairly well received all things considered, with what felt like a final, definitive end and resolution for the tortured and broken Laurie Strode and her family.

This did not last long, however, and last year halloween kills was much less well received. In true horror fashion, it retreaded the story of the previous film, added flashbacks and controversial context to the 1978 original, and ultimately did more harm than good. Let’s also not forget the “evil dies tonight”.

Michael’s Murderous Rampage in Halloween Kills (2021)

All this means the next Halloween ends isn’t getting much buzz, and the recent update regarding its release won’t help that. The synopsis of the film follows:

“Four years after the events of last year’s Halloween Kills, Laurie lives with her granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) and finished writing his memoirs. Michael Myers has not been seen since. Laurie, after decades of letting the specter of Michael determine and drive her reality, has decided to free herself from fear and rage and embrace life. But when a young man, Corey Cunningham (rohan campbell), is accused of killing a boy he was babysitting, it unleashes a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to finally face the evil she cannot control, once and for all.

Judging by the synopsis, horror fans are in for another fight between Michael and Laurie, with the only question being whether Laurie will get the same amount of plot armor she’s been privy to up until now. here.

“Only one of them will survive”

In a video posted today on the official HalloweenEnds Twitter, Jamie Lee Curtis points out that that’s it. The final part of the trilogy comes with the final battle between Michael and Laurie, and only one of them will survive. Watch Jamie Lee Curtis’ full message below:

In cinemas and streaming at the same time?

A move that isn’t necessarily indicative of a fantasy trilogy ending, it was announced today that the third film will be available to watch on Peacock on October 14, the same day it hits theaters.

While the second movie did the same, it was a more understandable decision due to the uncertainty surrounding theaters and fans’ reluctance to go to the movies during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic is not over, cinemas are operating almost normally and many films have seen considerable box office numbers.

Other films have been released directly to streaming services, perhaps the most successful recently being the fantastic Prey, but for a feature of this size and the franchise’s supposed history set to hit theaters and Peacock at the same time, that doesn’t bode well.
