Dragon House, seems to take fans back to the dark and dangerous land of Westeros as the family fights to be protectors of the Seven Kingdoms. Only surviving relative and presumed successor of King Viserys, Rhaenyra Targaryen, would play a crucial role in the story. Rhaenyra, a mysterious and intriguing woman, is sure to become a fan favorite in the saga.
So, that being said, here are some facts you didn’t know about Princess Rhaenyra.
1. Wasn’t the only child
Countless people have died as a result and the repercussions of everyone trying to be king in GOT, and it’s only natural that the same is true in Dragon House with fire and blood, the show’s source material. Even though Rhaenyra’s mother gave birth to not one but rather two boys for her wife and the Keeper of the Iron Throne King Viserys, both died tragically as children.
Not only was this heartbreaking and painful for both parents, but it also had long term consequences for the kingdom, as it paved the way for the struggle involving Rhaenyra as well as her half-brother Aegon.
2. Half-Targaryen
Contrary to the common Targaryen custom of remaining in the race to maintain the integrity of the house, Rhaenyra’s father married regardless of this common custom. This means that Rhaenyra is related to two of the most important families in the House of Dragon as well as the world of Game of Thrones. The Valean royal family, the Arryns, are Rhaenyra’s maternal ancestors, while her father is a member of the Targaryen dynasty. Due to her genetic makeup, Rhaenyra is only half Targaryen.
3. Fell in love with her uncle

Immediately, it was apparent that Daemon along with his niece, Rhaenyra, shared an extraordinary rapport, setting the stage for what is likely to become one of Matt Smith’s titular protagonists. In reality, Rhaenyra’s marriage to her uncle and subsequent motherhood would make her one of the most significant relationships in the Seven Kingdoms.
4. No woman is worthy of the Iron Throne
The Iron Throne has a personality of its own in both House of the Dragon and A Game of Thrones. The fate of many people is decided by their height, and its ascent can also be used as a predictor of success or failure for climbers.
Despite widespread praise for her ability, Rhaenyra’s attempts to sit on the Iron Throne were met with a deluge of scars and wounds. Some people thought the princess’ injuries were a warning sign from above, but most people saw them as evidence of her incapacity. This is just the latest in a long series of struggles she has had to endure because of the ascension.
5. Rumors that his children are bastards
Although they had children together, Rhaenyra’s maiden relationship was not a happy one because her wife clearly enjoyed male company more. Thus, speculation arose that the younger brothers she brought to him were actually the result of an association with Ser Harwin Strong. In fact, it is this belief that will cause her half-brothers to mock her children by suggesting that they might be bastards. As is typical in Westeros, this resulted in a lot of death and damage.
6. His reign was short-lived
Although silver-haired Targaryen had the potential to be a magnificent leader, it immediately became apparent that she carried some of the less admirable qualities of her family’s past rulers. In particular, she seemed indifferent to how ordinary people viewed her reign. In the end, she managed to take King’s Landing, but she didn’t have much success keeping it. Like the historical Queen Mathilde, of whom she was the model, the former was eventually driven out of her own kingdom because of her arrogance and intransigence.
7. Luck never favored her
The Iron Throne is hands down the most important and desired thing in Westeros!! Leave Westeros, it’s the most wanted thing in the Seven Kingdoms. Those who have heard of it say it seems to welcome or refuse those who perch on its aching blades. Rhaenyra suffered many wounds and scratches every time she tried to sit on it. Even if she persisted, it was obvious to anyone watching that the Iron Throne did not accept the Targaryens as its ruler.
8. She married twice
It is quite unexpected that Rhaenyra, as a princess, could marry, not only to help secure her father’s position, but also to help bolster her own authority and influence. To begin with, she married a member of House Velaryon, among the most powerful aristocratic households in Westeros as well as naval commanders. On the other hand, she married her own uncle Daemon, whom she had been hopelessly in love with since she was a little girl. Like many other people, Rhaenyra wanted her to succeed.
