Concept art recently revealed for Marvel Thor: Love and Thunder reveals Thor and Valkyrie reunited with Grandmaster Jeff Goldblum on the “Moon of Shame” in a deleted scene.
It was previously revealed that Jeff Goldblum, who first appeared as a Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarokhad returned to the role for a cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder. Ultimately, however, Goldblum’s return was cut from the film’s final cut.
Concept art posted online has provided insight into the Grandmaster’s role in love and thunder would have been, with this final piece showing him meeting Thor, Valkyrie, Jane Foster, and Korg.
New images shared by concept artist Yujin Choo show interior scenes from the so-called Moon of Shame, featuring the Grandmaster and Thor: Love and Thunderhis heroes gathered around a table.
Check out the illustrations below:
The Shame Moon appears to be an unwanted otherworld, similar to Sakaar, the Grandmaster’s home in Thor: Ragnarok. It is even possible that it is a moon of Sakaar, possibly a place of exile for the Grand Master after his people rose up against him in Ragnarok.
Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie and Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster can all be seen attending Jeff Goldblum’s grandmaster in the new stills. Taika Waititi’s Korg can also be seen in an image, already shrunk to nothing more than a head, suggesting that the Grand Master scene took place after the heroes battle Zeus’ forces in Omnipotence City.
It is not clear from these images what the purpose of the heroes’ journey to visit the Grand Master might have been. However, there are likely to be many fans who would have liked to see Jeff Goldblum return in Thor: Love and Thunder and it at least offers an idea of what it might have looked like.
