Laura was chosen for the OAC’s second team for the 2014-2015 season. She won the medal at the Ohio Northern University Spring Equinox Tournament on March 28, 2015. She was honored as OAC’s Female Golfer of the Week on March 30, 2015.
GENERAL GOLF INFORMATION:
When Laura was a freshman in 2012-2013, she participated in her first season of golf and received her first varsity letter. In the fall of 2012, Laura participated in five competitions, played 10 rounds and averaged 93.90 strokes per round. In the spring of 2013, Laura played five tournaments and 7.5 rounds, averaging 93.20 strokes per round. She shot a season-low 84 at the George Fox University (Oregon) Spring Break Invitational Tournament at Westbrook Village Country Club in Peoria, Arizona. BW did not participate in the OAC tournament.
Laura played her second golf season and received a second letter in the 2013-2014 school year. In the fall of 2013, Laura played in four competitions over eight rounds, averaging 93.0 strokes in each round. Her best round came at the Olivet (Mich.) College Tournament when she shot an 85. Laura played in all six tournaments and 12 rounds in the spring, including the George Fox (Ore.)
Spring Break University Invitational Tournament at Westbrook Village Country Club in Peoria, Arizona with a career-high 91.58 strokes per round. At the meet, she also hit a season-high 83. Both All-OAC and Academic All-OAC second-team honors went to Laura. BW won the 2014 OAC Championship while placing 21st in the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
As a junior in 2014-15, Laura competed in golf for the third time, earning her third letter in the sport. She was selected to the All-OAC Second Team after placing 13th in the OAC Tournament (Top-14 are All-OAC). Laura tied for second place at the Mount Union University tournament with a then career-low score of 82. (out of 33 golfers total). In the spring of 2015, Laura finished first out of 48 golfers and won the Ohio Northern Spring Equinox Classic medal at the Colonial Golfers Club in Harrod after hitting a career-high 79. She was honored as the Women’s Golfer of the OAC. Week of March 30, 2015. Throughout the season, Laura competed in 10 rounds and 7 tournaments, leading BW with an average of 88.3 strokes. At the OAC tournament, BW placed sixth overall out of eight teams.
HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL
Laura Vidmar was born and raised in Willoughby, Ohio where she attended Willoughby South High School.
For four years Laura played basketball and golf, earning three and two varsity letters in each sport. Additionally, she spent a season playing softball and a season running, earning varsity letters in each sport.
Laura was a young golfer who made the All-Conference Second Team and received an All-Northeast District Honorable Mention. As a senior, Laura was selected to Team NEOGCCA, Northeast District Honorable Mention Team, and Pacific Athletic Conference First Team. In her senior year, she was also chosen as the Lake County News-Herald Player of the Week.
As a senior, Laura was selected for the conference’s first-team basketball.
Additionally, Andrew was an Australian cricketer who was inducted into the Hall of Fame. He was also a versatile drummer on top of that. Chloe, his daughter, is a well-known figure on the opposite side. She made appearances in several television series with her father.
