Michale Waldron, author of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnessrevealed that the movie was almost done with a post-credits scene teasing the Fantastic Four from the MCU’s 616 universe.
At the end of the day Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness still featured the MCU’s first Fantastic Four tease, when the Mr. Fantastic of Earth-838, played by John Krasinski, appeared as a member of the Illuminati. Originally, however, Reed Richards was going to feature more subtly.

In an interview with Empire, Waldron said Mr. Fantastic was “the big one”, revealing “I always wanted Reed Richards in this thing.” The writer then revealed that before the Illuminati was an option, he got a brief glimpse of Reed in the script in a post-credits moment in the Baxter building.
Michael Waldron talked about the scene in his original draft of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:
“In my very first draft, I wrote a tag just for fun, with the events of the film being recorded and reviewed by someone in the Baxter building, and an outstretched hand coming into frame to bring him back. Reed is probably my favorite Marvel comic character, so I was always looking to get him here somewhere.
By the time the film was released, Reed Richards’ role had changed from an extendable hand appearing off-screen to a full-fledged supporting role during a key sequence in the film. While John Krasinski played Mr. Fantastic from Earth-838, the main MCU version of the character will be revealed in 2024 The Fantastic Four.
