DC has had previous cinematic success with characters who walk the line between good and evil, as seen in James Gunn The Suicide Squad or the brutal vision of Matt Reeves on the dark knight in The Batman. But no character has pushed the line between hero and villain quite like Black Adam.
As well as the heroes of the JSA, black adam will see Dwayne Johnson’s anti-hero take on the villainous Sabbac, played by Marwan Kenzari. As he finds himself caught between the team of superheroes and the demonic villain, Black Adam will have to decide where his own allegiance lies.
Historically, the character has been a nemesis to Shazam, played in the DCEU by Zachary Levi. It is not yet known if the two characters will meet on the big screen, but with black adam arrive shortly before Shazam! Fury of the godsit seems likely that they are destined to clash at some point.
Dwayne Johnson has also repeatedly teased a confrontation between Black Adam and Superman. The two characters briefly met in animation recently, in a post-credits scene for DC League of Super Petsbut reports suggest a live meeting could be held in black adam.
