Marvel Update Suggests ‘X-Men’ May Be Further Away Than Fans Think

Marvel Fans Shouldn’t Expect Any News x-men Where The Fantastic Four announcements for a long time yet, according to new details that have surfaced online regarding the films’ development.

During this weekend’s D23 Expo, Marvel fans received an update on Marvel Studios’ slate of upcoming movies. However, there was still no word on Marvel’s plans for the X-Men and the The Fantastic Four The casting announcement that many fans had been waiting for didn’t come either.

Now an insider scoop has revealed that x-men could be further away than fans expected and the casting process is unlikely to have begun The Fantastic Four.

Deadline scooper Justin Kroll has revealed that the MCU x-men “hasn’t been happening for a very long time,” while confirming that casting decisions are unlikely to have been made on The Fantastic Four.

The film rights to the X-Men were returned to Marvel Studios when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox. Earlier reports had suggested that many actors who had previously appeared on Fox’s x-men the movies still had contracts that wouldn’t expire until 2025, preventing Marvel from moving forward on a reboot before that point.

While it’s unclear if those pending distribution deals are a factor in Marvel Studios’ timeline for their x-men reboot or not, it seems fans shouldn’t expect a movie starring the X-Men before Marvel’s current multiverse saga, which ends in the year 2025. Avengers: Secret Wars.

It’s also been confirmed that Kevin Feige aims to work closely with a director when casting a major Marvel team like the Fantastic Four. Given that Matt Shakman just landed the director job on The Fantastic Fourit’s likely that no casting decisions will be made for this film for some time.

Although the X-Men may not return to the big screen just yet – Kroll later clarified that “a very long time” probably means around four years – the mutant team will appear in the animated series. X-Men ’97 on Disney+.

X-Men ’97 is set to feature returning voice actors Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Adrian Hough, Christopher Britton, Catherine Disher, Chris Potter, Alison Sealy-Smith and Alyson Court. The Disney Plus series also features the voice talents of Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio.
