She-Hulk has portrayed quite a few super-powered individuals, including wong and Abomination. However, the cases have certainly been lighter with plenty of comedic elements. What if She-Hulk had to defend Scarlet Witch? It would give Jen the opportunity to explore a more serious case. The case would also be extremely difficult to defend. After all, Wanda caused unimaginable damage during Multiverse of Madness. However, it would give She-Hulk a challenge to complete and help another superheroine. It would also be a great opportunity for MCU to explore the side of Wanda and the emotions she must have felt during the entire events of Doctor Strange 2.
What are the fees on Wanda?
There is obviously murder because she killed many wizards during her attack on Kamar-Taj. There is also the destruction of large-scale ownership and destruction in the multiverse. She also attempted to assassinate America Chavez and pursued her across the multiverse. That would be an exceptionally tough case for She-Hulk to make. However, for those wondering how she could pull off this miracle, there is a defense available. Throughout the duration of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Wanda was using the Darkhold and had been for some time. So as she used the Darkhold and learned about the multiverse and the various spells, it corrupted her mind and negatively influenced her.
Doctor Strange himself says, “Wanda is gone. She has the Darkhold and the Darkhold has her. This would allow She-Hulk to use the insanity plea whereby she would argue that Wanda was not in the right frame of mind when she committed these crimes. In fact, Wong or Doctor Strange, who are very knowledgeable in the mystical arts, could act as expert witnesses. They could testify about the Book of the Damned and how it corrupts everything it touches. Additionally, she was also extremely grief-stricken, which also contributes to mental instability. After all, she had an extremely difficult life. She lost almost everyone important to her, including her parents, her brother, Vision, and even her imaginary children. Admittedly this would result in Wanda being sent to a mental institution, I would say she really needs it
What if She-Hulk was defending Wanda?
If this case were to occur, the MCU could resolve many legal questions and ambiguities regarding the multiverse. When talking about the charges against Wanda, we haven’t mentioned her crimes in other universes. This is a major question that needs to be answered. If Scarlet Witch were to stand trial, would her multiversal crimes also be counted? This would include the killing of the Illuminati. Technically, the other universes are not under the jurisdiction of Earth-616. Additionally, the crimes committed on Earth-838 were perpetrated by the Wanda of this Earth with Scarlet Witch simply by dreamwalking using the Darkhold. This means that the judicial system of our Earth must become familiar with such magical concepts.
MCU could also introduce a superhero division to the justice system much like in GLK and H in She-Hulk. Ideally, there would be judges who are adept at such supernatural occurrences. Another problem with the case would be that the Darkhold book was destroyed and therefore would not be entered into evidence. It would also be an interesting way to explore the mental illnesses plaguing Wanda, especially PTSD after she snatched the Time Stone from the love of her life and then watched him die again in front of her. All of this would definitely give a more nuanced touch to She-Hulk. It would also show us real legal consequences of superhero actions instead of just brushing them aside.
