‘Captain America 4’ Director Teases The Leader’s Role In The Film

Tim Blake Nelson’s MCU Supervillain, The Leader, Last Seen In 2008 The Incredible Hulkcomes back in Captain America: New World Order and director Julius Onah teased his role in the film.

New world order will be the first Captain America film starring Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson as the titular hero, taking over from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. This will be Tim Blake Nelson’s first time playing the lead in his fully realized villainous form, 16 years after he first appeared in the MCU.

Julius Onah recently discussed The Leader’s role as a resourceful criminal mastermind that will leave audiences – and Captain America – guessing.

Talking about the role of the leader in Captain America: New World Order to Screen Rant, director Julius Onah confirmed that Tim Blake Nelson’s villain will be several steps ahead of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson throughout the film.

The Incredible Hulk introduced Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns, the Leader’s alter ego, who begins to gain his superpowers near the end of the film. In the comics, the Leader has enhanced intelligence and psychic abilities.

Discuss the role of the leader in New world orderonah said:

“We’re all paranoid, and I hope we’re all thrilled as well. It’s a movie, like the previous Captain American movies, that [leans] in the tradition of this genre. And what’s great about this movie is that Sam Wilson has an incredible adversary in The Leader, played by Tim Blake Nelson, that brilliant brain who is always 1-2-3-4 steps ahead.

“I think the audience, watching the movie, will never be able to see what’s happening around the corner.”

Since the Leader has generally been an enemy of the Hulk, some fans are wondering if the cheerful jade giant could also appear in New world order. Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah Bradley, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres and Shira Haas as Israeli superhero Sabra have already confirmed they will be joining Sam Wilson in his fight against the Chief.

Anthony Mackie last appeared in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Here is the synopsis:

After the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up on a global adventure that tests their abilities and patience in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon.” and The Winter Soldier.
