‘Rick And Morty’ Hilariously Calls Out ‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’

rick and morty finally returned to screens for its sixth season and among its usual pop culture gags, the series aimed to Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

Released in 2021 after a long and often contentious fan campaign, Zack Snyder’s Justice League was a new cut of the 2017 DC film with original director Zack Snyder virtually free rein to achieve his own vision for the film.

The second episode of rick and mortyThe sixth season of features a gag calling out Snyder’s tendency for long, convoluted dream sequences.

The second episode of rick and morty Season 6 features a return to the intergalactic arcade Blips and Chitz and a return to the VR game “Roy: A Life Well Lived”, last seen in Season 2.

When a power outage splits Morty’s consciousness among all the different NPCs in the game, Rick is faced with the daunting task of uniting the billions of “Roy’s” world to put his grandson back together.

Faced with 8% of Morty NPCs refusing to join, Rick says he’s willing to leave them in the game forever. Rick points out that missing 8% of something isn’t a big deal, saying “8% of the Snyder Cut was the dream of Batman”.

It’s a nod to a long sequence at the end of the film, which seems solely dedicated to setting up a potential sequel. In the confusing dream sequence, Batman experiences a vision of a dystopian future in which Darkseid has conquered Earth and Superman has turned against humanity.

Here is the synopsis of Zack Snyder Justice League:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure that Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice is not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns his forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an imminent threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must confront the demons of their own past to transcend what has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be coming too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their terrible intentions.”

Both versions of Justice League are available to stream on HBO Max. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the DC Universe and be sure to subscribe to the Heroic Hollywood YouTube channel for more original video content.
