Official Thunderbolts Concept Art
After today’s D23 Expo, we know what Marvel is planning for the future of the MCU. We have various Cast Announcements and various Trailers for upcoming Movies and TV Shows.
One of the most anticipated cast announcements was that of The Thunderbolts. We finally learned who the MCU’s Thunderbolts will be.
Let’s dive in and see all the anti-heroes there.
Elena Belova
Recent rumors pointed to Yelena being played by Florence Pugh as the leader of the Thunderbolts. After being manipulated by Valentina in Black Widow, Yelena seeks revenge against Hawkeye.
Her thirst for revenge nearly drives her to kill the Avenger, but after learning the reality of her sister’s death, Yelena goes rogue again.
Yelena seems like the best fit for the Thunderbolts leader, as Zemo is still under arrest by the Wakandans.
Valentina Allegra De Fontaine
The MCU’s Contessa, played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, is the one who brings the Thunderbolts together in the first place. She is considered the Palpatine of the MCU, manipulating everyone without being in front of anyone.
Valentina will play a pivotal role in The Thunderbolts. Fans believe she will try to free Baron Zemo from Wakandan Prison, as in the comics Zemo is the leader of the Thunderbolts. The same could be the case in the future for the Thunderbolts.
Winter Soldier/White Wolf
Sebastian Stan will return as White Wolf in the Thunderbolts. The theories state that Barnes is manipulated into the fact that Thunderbolts are a superhero team.
Seeing his past life as a servant of Hydra, he is driven to join the team to pay for his past deeds.
Phantom
Hannah John-Kamen will return as Ghost. After the events of Antman And The Wasp, there is no indication of where Ghost has been. It is still unclear whether she survived the snap or not.
His health had only declined as we saw in the events of Antman 2 when Hank, Janet, and Hope were abducted, and Scott was caught in the Quantum Realm, but if Ghost hadn’t been abducted, she wouldn’t have healed, her powers would only have been heightened.
Her role in Thunderbolts indicates that she is abducted, as she has her powers and is still alive.
red guardian
David Harbor returns as the Red Guardian, whose fate is unknown after the events of Black Widow. Alexei Alanovich Shostakov aka The Red Guardian was a Russian spy behind the Black Widow Project.
It’s likely that he and Yelena were reunited after Natasha’s death, and Yelena must have made her part of the team.
Tyrant
After the Taskmaster prank in Black Widow, fans were left disappointed because Marvel has steered away from the comics altogether. It has been confirmed that Olga Kurilenko will return as Taskmaster in The Thunderbolts.
US agent
US Agent was eventually introduced in Falcon And The Winter Soldier as the new Captain America. At the end of the season, after meeting Valentina, he finally became the U.S. Agent.
It’s still unclear who the villain of The Thunderbolts will be, but it won’t be for long.
