Shawn Levy, who serves as executive producer and director on stranger things and is configured to direct Dead Pool 3recently talked about a bizarre crossover between the two franchises.
stranger things recently released its fourth season on Netflix and is preparing to conclude with its upcoming fifth season. However, the franchise shows no signs of slowing down, with a spin-off currently in the works as well as a stage play. Meanwhile, Dead Pool 3 is set to be the first film featuring Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth to take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As a common thread between the two franchises, Shawn Levy recently mentioned the expansion of the “stranger things Cinematic Universe” to integrate a dead Pool crossing.
Speaking to Variety on the Emmys red carpet, Shawn Levy confirmed plans are underway to expand the stranger things Cinematic Universe and suggested that he and Ryan Reynolds were considering taking Deadpool on a trip to Hawkins.
“Yes, we’re building the STCU, and now that I’m spending time with [chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment] Kevin Feige, I’m learning a lot about how to run a universe,” Levy said of a stranger things Cinematic universe. “So I take those skills and apply them to the STCU.”
Asked about the possibility of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool entering the world of stranger thingsthe director revealed “Pretty funny, Ryan [Reynolds] and I was trying to figure out how the hell could we make a dead Pool–stranger things crossing. We haven’t cracked it yet, but it’s on the table.
Levy may have joked about the Marvel and Netflix franchises, but if anyone could make it happen, it would be him. And given Deadpool’s fourth-wall-breaking tendencies and his impending leap across continuities to the MCU, we’re not ruling out a stranger things crossing.
