Marvel Studios released a statement regarding Sabra’s controversial inclusion in Captain America: New World Order.
Marvel Studios has revealed the cast of Captain America: New World Order during a presentation at D23 last weekend. The following Captain America The film will feature the return of Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah Bradley, Danny Ramirez’s Joaquin Torres and Tim Blake Nelson as the lead. Marvel also announced that Sabra would be introduced in the film and portrayed by Shira Haas.
Marvel Teases ‘New Approach’
Israeli actress Shira Haas joins Captain America: New World Order while Sabra sparked an online outcry due to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. In a piece of The New York TimesMarvel Studios addressed the controversy with the following statement:
“While our characters and stories are inspired by the comic books. They’re still freshly imagined for today’s screen and audiences, and the filmmakers are taking a fresh approach with the character of Sabra who was introduced for the first seen in the comics over 40 years ago.
Here is the synopsis of the next Marvel movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever:
“In Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from world powers intervening in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and chart a new course for the kingdom of Wakanda.
