2021 brought a series of controversies and one of them turned out to be the infamous three-way kiss between Taika Waititi, Rita Ora and Tessa Thompson. Taika Waititi and Rita Ora are now happily married in a secret ceremony that took place in London in 2022 and the incident has long been rather iconic in the public mind.
The kiss itself had raised a lot of ruckus among fans as they were taken aback by the surprise encounter.
Backlash against Taika Waititi
The three-way kiss that took place at a party on the balcony of Taika Waititi’s mansion with Rita Ora and Tessa Thompson stood out the most of the event. Fans around the world were criticizing the filmmaker for the peck and he, along with Ora and Thompson, received a lot of hate for the same.
Tessa Thompson came out as bisexual in 2018 and since then has been open to exploring her options. So when the fan press spotted her face-to-face with Rita Ora, it came as an even bigger surprise because by then her relationship with Waititi had just come to light.

Controversy continued to mount
Thompson was seen days later kissing Australian model Zac Stenmark, who was 29 at the time. They seemed pretty pals and smitten with each other and the Thor: Ragnarok The filmmaker had revealed in April 2021 his relationship with Rita Ora.
What made fans wonder more about the situation was that Taika Waititi then went public and claimed he had done nothing wrong by kissing the two. Some fans seemed amused by the situation and “I wanted to be in their place” while some were completely against their actions.

Fans respond to Taika Waititi
The three famous celebrities have a huge following and while some threw shade and were against them, most decided to take a more humorous approach and seemed to enjoy the publicity they had received.
All three have since found more freedom in their work by not caring much about the hatred that might just be usual for celebrities.
