The Darkest Versions of Marvel Comics’ Beloved She-Hulk

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law is now live with new episodes released weekly. Fans fell in love with Jen Walters aka She-Hulk brilliantly interpreted by Tatiana Maslany. She’s cute, funny, lovable, relatable, and an amazing lawyer. Jen Walters is also a superhero who cares about people and is very principled. However, there are much darker versions of She-Hulk in Marvel comics that rival her otherwise good-natured cuteness. Here are some of those versions.

1. Zombie She-Hulk

Zombie She-Hulk from Earth-2149

She-Hulk was part of the Marvel Zombies storyline in the comics. She lived on Earth-2149 and was affected by the zombie plague just like the rest of the Avengers. In fact, she was transformed by the Avengers themselves. This version of She-Hulk liked to eat brains and people, so she’s very different from Earth-616’s sweet Jen Walters. This version also killed Franklin Richards and his sister Valeria. When the Invisible Woman and Mr. Fantastic returned to see their two dead children, they were heartbroken. Eventually, Sue Storm killed She-Hulk by blowing her head off. Eating children is definitely a pretty despicable act.

2. HYDRA She-Hulk

HYDRA Queen Host

Earth-9997’s Jen Walters was infected by a group of Hydra creatures in the Marvel comics. These creatures were created by Norman Osborne as revenge against SHIELD. This made She-Hulk the host of Queen Hydra. The moment she became Queen Hydra’s host, her soul disappeared from her body and entered the realm of the dead. As Hydra Queen, this version of Walters became the leader of the HYDRA army. She led the attack on SHIELD and even managed to dismantle it entirely. Her leadership was unquestionable and she helped HYDRA escape the Avengers and supported them throughout. Obviously, being part of a Nazi regime is a pretty dark turn from his otherwise fun personality.

3. Lyra

Lyre

He is the child of Thundra and She-Hulk known as Lyra. While this version of Jen Walters isn’t quite as dark as the Hydra or Zombie versions, she’s still quite different from the Jen we know. She’s not too principled and certainly isn’t averse to killing and taking lives. Another unique distinction is that Lyra loses power the angrier she is. What’s even more important about this version is the world she comes from. The world is divided into two factions on the basis of gender and has extremely toxic patriarchal roots.

4. She-Hulk mutated after a nuclear war

Mutated She-Hulk

This is another dark version of She-Hulk. She belongs to a dystopian world that has fallen victim to a nuclear war and experienced unimaginable fallout. As a result, she was mutated and practically driven insane. She even wanted to kill Betty-6 while pregnant with Maestro’s child. In fact, even after seeing the newborn, she didn’t hesitate to achieve the goal. This version of Jen Walters has become a monster. Luckily, she was killed before she could complete this gruesome task.

5. Elizabeth Ross

Elizabeth Ross becomes She-Hulk

This version of Betty Ross has been described as invariably heartless. She lacks all manner of morals and would gladly use manipulation and deception to achieve her ends. Betty had taken a dose of the Super Soldier Serum to become She-Hulk. In a fight with Wolverine, she even gouged out his eyes, which seems pretty out of place for Earth 616 Jen Walters.

6. Weapon of Exile X She Hulk

Weapon X Exiles

This version of She-Hulk was initially a mob lawyer or rather an accountant. However, during the Weapon X project, she aided Sabertooth from Age of apocalypse and his team which was referred to as an evil team in the comic series. She basically helped them fix the realities, but did it in an extremely brutal way.

7. Red Hulk

red hulk

This is another Hulked version of Betty Ross in the Marvel comics. She is also known as Harpie. Red She-Hulk had a controversial relationship with Hulk as she tried to kill him many times but still loved him. She was bitter, vengeful and extremely vindictive. She was even addicted to her Gamma power which often drove her crazy and out of control. This version of beloved green Jen Walters is definitely the darkest and also the most likely to become a villain in her own right. Marvel might even bring her into the MCU and have an epic fight between her and Earth-616’s She-Hulk.
