Doctor Strange 2 Deleted Scene Shows Scarlet Witch Mordo Beheaded

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has become one of the most anticipated films of the MCU’s Phase 4. It saw Sam Raimi return for another Marvel movie, with more emphasis on his creative control.

Despite all the hype and reassurances, the film failed to live up to fan expectations, as many felt the film was a mess and didn’t establish enough tension. It starred Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange and Elizabeth Olsen as the Scarlet Witch.

The brutality of Doctor Strange 2

Although failing on many key factors, the film still delivered the action. We saw some interesting death scenes during the Battle of Kamar-Taj, including some of the regular stabbings, cremations, and obliteration.

But the scenes at Illuminati headquarters were considered particularly brutal, as we saw the Scarlet Witch turn Reed Richards into spaghetti, behead Captain Carter, and turn Black Bolt’s brain into mush. But there were a few cuts in the film, which were reminiscent of gore.

In a deleted scene posted to stuntman Lian Yang’s Instagram account, we saw the Scarlet Witch decapitate one wizard, smash another wizard’s head, and mess up another wizard’s limbs. These instances were probably intended to organize the execution of the Illuminati.

Scarlet Witch killed Mordo in a deleted scene?

In the audio commentary of the digital version of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, director Sam Raimi described the scene where Mordo would confront the Scarlett Witch, only to be beheaded. He said:

“He was limping and he was coming after the Scarlet Witch to take her power because he knew she was dark and terribly corrupted by the Darkhold and she killed him and cut off his head, and presented him to Strange in a later scene.”

Chiwetel Ejiofor reprized his role as Karl Mordo but from Earth-838.

Previously in the first strange doctor, we’ve seen Mordo turn to the dark side and go on a killing spree, taking power from other wizards. The deleted scene would have helped make Scarlet Witch a bigger threat, but Sam Raimi noted how the sequence would have disrupted the pacing, he said:

“It was really great to write, but it slowed the start too much, so we had to lose it.”

In a teaser poster from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness released for the film, we saw Earth-616’s Mordo take on Scarlett Witch at her home in Westview. Although it would have been a great scene, its absence allows it to appear in doctor strange 3.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now streaming on Disney+.
