James Earl Jones, widely known for his terrific role as the voice of none other than Darth Vader himself, has finally retired from the role, giving the voice rights of Darth Vader to LucasFilm for future Star Wars projects.

James Earl Jones has voiced the character for over forty-five years, bringing to life the character who has been one of the franchise’s most famous faces. LucasFilm now owns the rights to the character’s voice which can be used in any other appearances Vader has to make.

James Earl Jones is famous for voicing not one, but two iconic fathers; Anakin Skywalker, also known as Darth Vader, and Mufasa, from The Lion King. Although behind the mask stood a deceptive Anakin Skywalker, the voice that frightened many was that of Jones himself.
