While Captain America has always been seen as the knight in shining armor the world desperately needs, Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson seems more than ready to take on the revered role as he officially accepted the role in The Falcon and the Winter Soldierthus putting himself in the place of Chris Evans, both literally and figuratively.
At San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel announced the title of the fourth Captain America autonomous, Captain America: New World Order, which stars Anthony Mackie. And the actor already has big cooking plans for his 2024 film.
Anthony Mackie wants to top Chris Evans’ famous fight scene
Every MCU fan most likely reveres the classic elevator fight scene from Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and apparently, Anthony Mackie too.
When Steve Rogers beat and beat the HYDRA soldiers single-handedly as they tried to confine him to the small space of an elevator in the 2014 film, fans went wild in awe. In fact, the actor himself was so proud of it that he claimed it was his favorite scene out of all the MCU fight scenes.

Anthony Mackie has similar emotions when it comes to the fight scene. He seems to have been greatly inspired by it, so much so that he wants his character to surpass this scene in Captain America: New World Order.
“I want a fight scene that rivals the Chris Evans fight scene in the elevator [in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier] when he fought like 10 guys in the elevator”, Mackie remarked while speaking to E! News from his 2024 film.
He also mentioned how impressed he was when he first saw it. “It was a badass scene. The first time I saw that, I was like, ‘This is crazy. So, I just want a fight scene that rivals that.

While Mackie admitted to wanting to top Chris Evans’ epic fight scene, he also made it very clear that this in no way indicates Steve Rogers’ return to the MCU.
“Marvel isn’t even in his department anymore. He’s come so far. Mackie said, explaining why Chris Evans isn’t showing up as an Avenger anytime soon. “He is enjoying life. He’s like an old retired guy.
On a more positive note though, during their D23 exhibition panel, Marvel announced that fans might see some familiar faces in the cast with Sam Wilson.
The film appears to be in production, according to Mackie, which will begin filming soon next year.
