She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will show us many superhero collaborations where Jen is expected to portray them. We’ve already seen Jen and Wong team up on the case of Donny Blaze. The show also gave us constant teasers for the appearance of Daredevil in She-Hulk. However, there is another obscure Marvel superhero that was teased in an episode of She-Hulk. And that’s none other than Leap-Frog. So here’s everything you need to know about Leap-Frog and his appearance in She-Hulk
Leap-Frog teased in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 5
Remember superhero fashion designer Luke Jacobson? During episode 5 of She-Hulk where Nikki Ramos and Jennifer Walters went to the super exclusive Luke Jacobson to give She-Hulk a nice fitted costume, we notice that he designs costumes for several superheroes. In fact, later in the episode, we see that Luke designed a new costume for Daredevil aka Matt Murdock. However, during She-Hulk’s first visit, another blond-haired man left the establishment with a similar black bag. This meant that he too was Luke’s client and had had a suit made for him.
Interestingly, this man appears to be Brandon Stanley, the actor who is rumored to play Leap-Frog. Brandon Stanley attended the Los Angeles premiere of She-Hulk. His name also appeared in the credits of this episode and he was said to play Eugene Patilio. For fans of Marvel comics, they will already know that Eugene Patilio, son of Vincent Patilio, is the secret identity of Leap-Frog or rather Frog-Man.
So, as we’ve already established, it’s not exactly villain Leap-Frog aka Vincent Patilio that we’ll see. It will be Eugene Patilio who picked up the mantle after his father as Frog-Man and attempted to create a somewhat serious legacy in order to escape his father’s crimes. Marvel is trying to produce a mix of father and son through this character himself. We will therefore briefly explore these two characters.
Who are Vincent and Eugene Patilio?
Vincent Patilio or the original Leap-Frog was a failed inventor who made his own suit and embarked on a life of crime. He became a Daredevil villain and was naturally defeated by Matt Murdock. In fact, he had several run-ins with Daredevil and showed some skill, especially with his superior speed compared to other Daredevil villains. The electrically powered jumping coils in his suit allowed him to jump over 6 floors. However, Leap-Frog also didn’t find much success in his supervillain career. His financial problems, his anger issues and his humiliation led him to become an abusive father towards Eugene Patilio. Understandably, father and son became alienated over the years, especially after Eugene’s mother died as she succumbed to cancer.
One day when Eugene found his father’s costume in a closet, he decided to do something with it. Eugene updated the costume and took on the alias Frog-Man to become the antithesis of everything his father stood for. In She-Hulk, this is where Luke Jacobson would come in to help fix the costume. As Frog-Man, he tried to help Spider-Man and the Human Torch fight crime. But he wasn’t super good at it. Nonetheless, he kept trying and sometimes got lucky when he managed to catch the bad guys like Speed Demon.
What’s even healthier is that Eugene inspired his father to don the Leap-Frog costume and become a hero instead. Vincent turned over a new leaf and as Leap-Frog he helped Frog-Man and Spider-Man take down the criminals. They also managed to work things out between them and fix their father-son relationship.
How will Leap-Frog appear in She-Hulk?
We don’t know exactly what role Leap-Frog will play in She-Hulk, however, Brandon Stanley has said he’ll be a superhero. Meanwhile, all Kevin Feige has said is that fans don’t know what to expect from this character. There’s a storyline in the comics where Leap-Frog, the villain of Daredevil, appeared in court and hired none other than Matt Murdock and Foggy Nelson to defend his case in court. So we could see something like this, but only time will tell!
