In the musical “A Jazzman’s Blues”, Solea Pfeiffer, who rose to fame in 2017 for her portrayal of Eliza Hamilton in the musical “Hamilton” during her “First US tour”, takes on the role of Leanne. After earning his BFA from the University of Michigan, Pfeiffer continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. A Jazzman’s Blues is a film that will be produced by Netflix and directed by Tyler Perry. On March 23, 2021, it was revealed that Joshua Boone and Solea Pfeiffer will star in the film. On May 7, 2021, the following actors were added to the cast of the film: Brent Antonello, Brad Benedict, Ryan Eggold, Milauna Jemai Jackson, Kario Marcel, Austin Scott, Amirah Vann and Lana Young.
In 1995, Perry wrote the screenplay, which was his very first. In November 2006, Lionsgate had purchased the film rights and intended to begin production the following summer once they had done so.
Production on the feature film began May 5, 2021 and continued through June 2, 2021. Production shot scenes in Savannah, Georgia, as well as Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia.
