Marvel has continually received criticism for forcing Marvel characters into a comic book setting. One of the most criticized films is that of Taika Waititi Thor: Love and Thunder. The film was released in July 2022 and wreaked havoc on Marvel and its fans. Fans weren’t happy with the humorous portrayal of the God of Thunder. Not just the film, its director Taika Waititi has also been criticized for turning the superhero into a complete laughingstock.
While not everyone was upset with the movie, most fans were totally against the idea. They started criticizing the director for experimenting with the film. Many have even claimed that Waititi started this in Thor: Ragnarok. Now, months after the release of Thor: Love and Thundera Marvel executive finally talks about how Taika Waititi came up with several ideas for the movie and how it scared them a bit.

MCU exec praises Taika Waititi for Thor: Love and Thunder
During his recent interview with SyFy, Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Andy Park talked about what happened behind the scenes of Thor: Love and Thunder. He said working with Taika Waititi was so much fun.
He also talked about how Thor 3 and Thor 4 are very different from the first two films, even with the same characters. He mentioned the representation of Thor in comics by various comic artists like Michael Straczynski and the late Stan Lee, pointing out that Waititi followed the exact same pattern as the Marvel comics.
He said, “We have four Thor movies, but the third and fourth are quite different from the first two. And yet, it is the same character. It’s the exact same model as Marvel Comics, isn’t it? The way Stan Lee wrote Thor is quite different from someone like Michael Straczynski.
Speaking about the future of the MCU, Andy Park also said that there is so much more to the MCU. He said there is The ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Thunderbolts, and the image will only get bigger.

Taika Waitit and Christian Bale’s Children’s Involvement in Thor: Love and Thunder
Further on, he also mentioned that Taika Waititi isn’t afraid to try something new and push the story to extreme levels, which sometimes scares the visual team at Marvel Studios. Andy Park also explained how they decided on the look of the shadow monster in the film. Christian Bale’s kids have also given their thoughts on the shadow monster’s appearance.
He said Waitit’s daughter drew the shadow monster. He explained, “Whereas [Taika] was writing the script, her daughter read that part, and she thought, “What does a shadow monster look like?”
After which Waititi asked him to draw what the monster would look like. She drew it and they decided to adapt it for the film. He said he saw those designs and made them into those creatures. He also stated that Taika wanted to focus primarily on Gorr, Thor, Mighty Thor, and Gorr’s daughter Love.
Although fans may not have liked his idea with Thor: Love and Thunder, Taika Waititi is still proud of his work on the film. After seeing the success of Thor: Ragnarokmarvel has decided Thor 4.
However, along with the reviews, the film made fans doubt that Taika Waititi would return with another film. And if Waititi returns, fans will hope to see the director back in action the same way he did when he first arrived in the MCU.
