Organic Munawar Faruqui

He was born on January 28, 1992 and Munawar Iqbal Faruqui is an Indian comedian and rapper. In the first season of Kangana Ranaut’s reality show Lock Upp, which aired in 2022, he participated as a contestant and eventually emerged victorious.

Early life

On January 28, 1992, Faruqui was welcomed into the world by his Indian Muslim parents in Junagadh, Gujarat. When he was 16, his family moved to Mumbai after sectarian violence in Gujarat in 2002 caused the destruction of his home. Shortly after this tragedy, his mother died.

When his father fell ill, he was forced to start working to support his family when he was just 17 years old. While still in school, he took a job at a company that sold kitchen utensils.

It was in April 2020 that he posted a humorous video on his channel titled “Dawood, Yamraaj & Aurat” which catapulted him to the forefront of the entertainment industry. In August 2020, he released his first single, titled “Jawab”, which was a collaboration with an Indian singer named Spectra.

On February 28, 2021, he posted a video on his YouTube channel called “Ghost Story”, which was a stand-up comedy.

In 2022, he participated in the reality show Lock Upp, hosted by Kangana Ranaut.

On May 8, 2022, it was announced that he had won the contest.

Legal issue

2021 arrest

Faruqui was in the middle of his tour, during which he performed stand-up in several locations across India. In Indore, Madhya Pradesh on January 1, 2021, he was performing a stand-up show at Munro Cafe when he was interrupted by Eklavya Singh Gaur, son of BJP MLA Malini Gaur. Eklavya Singh Gaur accused him of making malicious jokes about Hindu deities and India’s Home Minister Amit Shah. This allegation was made by Eklavya Singh Gaur. Amid his comedy routine on January 2, he was arrested by Madhya Pradesh police, who claimed they did so in accordance with India’s hate speech laws. Despite the fact that the police had no evidence against Munawar, they arrested him anyway.

His arrest was heavily criticized for failing to respect a comedian’s freedom of expression, including by a joint initiative of the Global Indian Diaspora on February 2, 2021, which said a group of South American comedians -Asian would present a virtual comedy show on February 6, 2021, in order to show their solidarity with the imprisoned Faruqui. His arrest took place in Pakistan, where he is serving a life sentence for terrorism. After further consideration, the Supreme Court of India decided to release him on bail.

Controversial

Due to the statements he makes while performing stand-up comedy, Munwar Faruqui has been intimately involved in a number of scandals and he continues to be involved in disputes on a regular basis. Their disagreement began on January 1, 2021 in the city of Indore. As part of his act titled Dongri to Nowhere, he would travel the country performing stand-up comedy in several different locations.
