The Wong family has a history of playing major league baseball, and Connor isn’t the first member of his line to play in the majors. His family members are avid MLB fans and attend every game, and since his father played the game himself, they are addicted to baseball.
With a lifetime ERA of 5.55, he pitched 25 games for Milwaukee and Montreal. His son Connor’s decision to play baseball was greatly inspired by Matt.
That summer, he played 41 games for the Bourne Braves in the Cape Cod League, batting .313 with three home runs, and was named All-Star. During his junior year at Houston in 2017, Wong transitioned into full-time catching.
He started all 63 games for Houston this season, posting a .287/.379/.494 batting line with 12 homers, 36 RBIs and 26 stolen bases. After the season, the Los Angeles Dodgers selected him in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft.
