Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is one of the most anticipated upcoming MCU projects. It will be involving Kang and will be very important in advancing Kang’s storyline in the MCU. In fact, the movie might even see the death of a beloved character. Another interesting development in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is that Scott Lang’s daughter, Cassie Lang, will be playing a pretty big role in the project. It is also said that she will finally become the superhero called Stature or Stinger as seen in the Marvel comics. This would make her a new addition to the Young Avengers team. So let’s explore how and which superhero Cassie Lang will become.
Cassie Lang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania footage from D23 Expo
In the footage shown, Cassie is seen in a car with Scott and Hope. In fact, she is a catalyst for the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Scott Lang is brought into action after finding his daughter Cassie Lang being arrested. Eventually, he must participate in a heist for Kang in exchange for Cassie’s freedom. Later in the sequence, Cassie can also be seen sharing the screen with Kang. This all points to Cassie having her own superhero arc and joining the other Young Avengers soon. Additionally, Cassie expressed her desire to be a superhero and help her father when she was younger.
Who is the superhero, Stature or Stinger?
Stature and Stinger have both been aliases adopted by Cassie Lang throughout her superhero career. She desperately wanted to be a superhero and so repeatedly exposed herself to Pym Particles without her father’s knowledge. She lived with Scott Lang in the Avengers mansion and even developed relationships with the other heroes such as Tony Stark. It just encouraged his desire to become a superhero even further. After her father’s death, Cassie was forced to live with her mother and stepfather. However, in rebellion, she joined the Young Avengers. Kate Bishop, who was already part of the team, welcomed her with open arms. She used the wealth and resources of her wealthy family to provide Cassie with technologically advanced armor, suits, and weapons.
Thus, she officially became part of the Young Avengers. That’s when Cassie Lang became Stature. With them, she went on several missions until her true identity was revealed to her parents by Jessica Jones in an attempt to stop the Young Avengers. Later in the comics, she was revived by Doctor Doom in an effort to right her wrongs. That’s when she became Stinger. She started her superhero career again. Cassie embarked on a dangerous mission in which she wanted to dismantle an organization of supervillains from within. However, her plan backfired and she had to be rescued by her father. After many complications involving Scott’s trial for the crimes committed by Cassie and the truth being revealed, the father-daughter duo were finally able to begin their superhero journey together. Ant-Man and Stinger have become partners.
What are Stinger’s powers?
Stinger’s powers are similar to those of Ant-Man. Due to her continued exposure to Pym Particles, she has the ability to shrink and enlarge in size. She could descend to the height of an ant and also expand to gigantic sizes. Cassie was a highly skilled fighter. She was trained in hand-to-hand combat by none other than Captain America. She was also trained in self-defense by Wolverine.
Similar to Ant-Man, Stinger was able to communicate with insects and ants. Her specially created headset also helped her in this communication. It basically amplified the signals. Also, just like Wasp, she had a pair of wings on her back that allowed her to fly. Cassie as Stinger was an intelligent and strategic hero who was an integral part of the Young Avengers.
