Escobar, 22, made his NFL debut on Sept. 8, 2013, as the Cowboys defeated the New York Giants 36-31.
In his rookie season, he was expected to be a pass-catching option in both close sets, but due to limited use, he only had nine receptions for 134 yards and two affected.
He continued to be a substitute in his second season in the league, but James Hanna, the running back’s offensive point blocker, edged him out on the depth chart.
Additionally, he was primarily deployed on special teams and as a red-zone target, finishing with 105 receiving yards and four of nine touchdowns caught.

Gavin Escobar, according to ESPN, was discovered unconscious following a rock climbing accident near Idyllwild, California.
In the San Bernardino National Forest near Tahquitz Rock, two climbers were injured in a rock climbing accident. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The other climber has been identified as Chelsea Walsh, 33.
Authorities say Gavin and Chelsea died while climbing a “rock face”.
Although there was rain in the area earlier in the day, authorities were unsure at the time of the deaths if the weather had anything to do with them.
Chelsea Walsh, meanwhile, enjoys rock climbing and used to work for a charity called Road Trip Nation. She just contributed to a film about climbers who recovered from food issues.
