So let’s break down everything that happens in the trailer and what you can expect from the next episode. Spoiler alert – it will be even better and more action-packed than Episode 7!

The preview shows another time jump in House of the Dragon. The children are much older now, especially Aemond who has grown considerably and became much more menacing and vicious. Even Rhaenyra’s children, Jacaerys, Lucerys and Joffrey, have grown old. This time jump also means that Viserys’ health has worsened further and he has become immobile. Aegon too has aged and now looks much more like Joffrey Baratheon from Game of Thrones to whom he is often compared.

Episode 7 of House of the Dragon took place in 120 AC. We saw the death of Lady Laena Velaryon, the fake death of Laenor Velaryon, and Aemond’s claim to Vhagar, all of which happened in 120 AC. Thus, a time jump would bring the House of the Dragon timeline closer to 129 AD, the year King Viserys died. Clearly, Viserys will be dead in the next one or two episodes. In the Episode 8 trailer itself, he is absent from the throne and court. His illness has taken hold of him and he is permanently bedridden. The year of her death will also see the death of Lucerys Velaryon, son of Rhaenyra at the hands of Aemond Targaryen. The preview even hints at what’s going on.

With Viserys in bed, Otto Hightower as Hand of the King also proclaimed himself to be the King’s voice. He himself will exercise the functions of Viserys. This is a major move for the Greens and a small step in cementing their line on the Iron Throne. In fact, we hear in the preview that the greens will be making their first big move in the next episode. We also see the sons of Alicent fighting more with the sons of Rhaenyra. Things are surely about to get crazy!
Vaemond Velaryon could become the next villain
Vaemond Velaryon aims for the throne of Driftmark
The House of the Dragon Episode 8 trailer tells us that Lord Corlys Velaryon was badly injured during the battle in the Stepstones which again became a problem for the kingdom. So, Vaemond Velaryon, his brother, takes advantage of the situation and his absence to seize the throne of Driftmark. However, as seen in the trailer, Princess Rhaenys won’t let this pass and will fight for her husband’s throne. In fact, Rhaenyra and Daemon might even help her claim House Velaryon by thwarting Vaemond. After all, Vaemond doesn’t like them either as he blames Rhaenyra for committing adultery against Laenor. Additionally, in the books, Vaemond meets his end at the hands of Daemon himself under Rhaenyra’s orders. So get ready to see even more bloodshed in Episode 8!
Daemon and Rhaenyra are ready to hit the greens
Daemon and Rhaenyra prepare to return to King’s Landing
Rhaenyra and Daemon reside in Dragonstone after getting married. However, in the House of the Dragon Episode 8 preview, Rhaenyra learns that Otto Hightower and the Greens are ruling in place of her father and see this as an attempt to steal the throne. So Daemon suggests they go back to King’s Landing. While it’s entirely possible to challenge Rhaenyra’s claim and make Aegon the heir to Westerosi law who prefers men to the throne, it could also be a trap to lure Princess Rhaenyra. Fortunately, Rhaenyra is aware of this fact and points out that it could be a trap. Still, it will be great to see Rhaenyra and Daemon fighting on the same side.
House of the Dragon Introduces Twin Kingsguards Arryk and Erryk Cargyll
The last element that the trailer shows is very specific information that may seem insignificant. The House of the Dragon Episode 8 trailer previews twin Kingsguards Arryk and Erryk Cargyll who serve the kingdom during the reign of King Viserys himself. Also, during the Dance of the Dragons, the two brothers support the different sides and thus separate.
